Walden D. Carmine, Sr., a retired builder and developer died naturally, falling asleep and giving back his soul to the Creator on May 22, 2014. He was 87 years old.
Walden was a builder, developer and founder of Carmine Builders. He was instrumental in the development of Powhatan Chimney, as well as, other land developments. He served on the Gloucester Planning Commission and Gloucester Industrial Authority. Walden's desire was to make Gloucester County a good place to live and work. He was a member of Gloucester Point Baptist Church, served on the Building Committee as chairman and on the Board of Trustees.
Walden was a soft spoken man with high moral values who was respected by all who knew him. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a good friend to all. A thoughtful, gentle man of honesty, integrity, patience and understanding, he was a testament to the fact that a great friend and father makes all the difference.
His parents, Orris and Lessie Carmine; son, Robbie Carmine and sister, Mary Greg preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Ash Carmine; children, Walden D. Carmine, Jr., Jerry Carmine (Janice), Penny Reynolds, Betsy Berger (Rob), John Carmine and Steve Carmine; and six grandchildren, Ashley Reynolds, Jill Carmine, Lauren and Kristen Berger, Matthew and Sam Carmine.
A funeral service officiated by Reverend Bud Goude will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Gloucester Point Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 until 1:45 p.m. Sunday at the church. Interment will be in Rosewell Memorial Garden.
In Walden's memory contributions may be given to Gloucester Point Baptist Church, Building Fund, P. O. Box 305, Gloucester Point, VA 23062.
