Bena: Margie Virginia Hypes, 83, died May 2, 2014. Margie lived her entire life in Bena graduating in 1947 from Achilles High School and was a lifelong member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Margie retired from Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown as an Electronic Equipment Specialist. A whiz with a sewing machine she could sew an outfit in one evening. When Margie wasn't sewing, she was cooking and baking. She was a loving wife, mother, nannie and friend. She loved each of her children unconditionally. Her memory will live forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll M. Hypes; parents, Cary and Lillian Jenkins; sister, Jane J. Alexander and Jennie Mae Caracoff; and brother, J. Edgar Jenkins.
She is survived by her children, Virginia A. Evans and husband, Dewey, Betty Carol Ball, Danny R. Hypes and wife, Cheryl and Sherry L. Williams and husband, Bennie. Her grandchildren, Brian K. Gross and wife, Michelle, Damon C. Gross and wife, Amanda, Christopher H. Ball and fiancée, Joy, Kathy L. Ball and fiancé, Bryan, Ben L. Williams, Matthew F. Williams and Dustin Hypes; great grandchildren, Nathan Gross, Madison Gross, David Ball, Noah LeFevre, Lydia LeFevre, Skylar Cox and Savannah Gross; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service officiated by Reverend Carol Bookwalter and Reverend Thad Decker will be held 1 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
The family expresses sincere gratitude to all her wonderful caregivers, Dr. Haggerty and staff, Riverside Walter Reed Hospice Staff and the nurses and staff at Heron Cove for their care, support and love.
