Gloucester Point: David S. Traylor, 85, went to be at peace with the Lord, on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at home. He was born July 18, 1929 in Bradshaw, Texas to Homer and Ada Traylor. David served his country as a Lieutenant in the Merchant Marines from 1947-1949. He worked on the peninsula as a construction contractor. David retired to Pencil Bluff, Arkansas, where he and his wife worked as cattle ranchers and owned chicken houses. He was a farmer at heart, and always had a garden that he shared with family and friends. David trained Tennessee Walkers and his horses always placed well in shows. He had a passion for restoring John Deere tractors and classic cars, and he could play a real good hand of poker.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sonia Traylor; one son, David Traylor; three daughters, Sandra Carter and husband, Robert, Teresa Wood and husband, Danny and Donna Traylor; grandchildren, Kevin Carter and wife, Heather, Daniel Belor and wife, Wendy, Lisa Jones and husband, Garrett, Ashley Zeno and husband, Michael, Jason Carter and wife, Chelsea and Katelyn Mosquera and husband, Guillermo; twelve great grandchildren; and three sisters, Nell Cook, Merna Pierce and Minnie Whitehouse.
A memorial for family and friends will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2014 at his home. Burial will be later in the family plot at Macedonia Cemetery, Pencil Bluff, Arkansas.
